Ulta Don't Be Selfish Tease!

I did a gorgeous manicure with 2 gorgeous colors. The bottom layer is Juleps Anne. I layered it with Ulta Don't Be Shellfish from the Under the Sea Collection. It is a gorgeous purple with tons of purple & gold glitter. It is simply beautiful. Below is a pic of the 2 colors I used. I took pictures of the mani but they did NOT do justice to the mani. I felt it would be a disgrace if I posted the pictures. So I'm going to try again to get better pictures when the sun comes out & hopefully I will get the gorgeous pictures that these colors deserve.

Avon Matte Red Velvet

Avon Matte Red Velvet is a gorgeous burgundy color. I'm in love with this color & consistency. It dries extremely fast! Almost to fast. If you aren't fast enough you can over work the polish & make it look thick & messy. I have only been wearing it for a day & haven't had any chipping but the reviews I have read said after the first day this polish begins to chip off of the nail. In order to avoid this I would suggest getting a matte top coat & put that on top of it. I haven't tried it to see if it changes the look or not because I just love THIS color by itself. I'm not sure if this color is still available thru Avon but I'm sure you could find it on EBay or find a similar look by using a similar color & matte top coat. Maybe I will see what I can find & that will be a "Same on Saturday" post.

What do you think of this color? Do you like the matte finish?
Thx for stopping by.

Same on Saturday -(Same Color)

Have you ever seen a nail polish that you loved but it was a little to expensive? Ever wondered if there was a DUPE for that gorgeous polish? Now there is! Saturday is going to be "Same on Saturday" day! I'm going to post a dupe for the higher end polishes. So you can have that gorgeous polish at a inexpensive price unless you feel the need to pay the higher price. It's totally up to you. For the first of this series is Julep's Leah $14.00 VS Pure Ice- Free Spirit 1.99. Leah you can purchase on Julep.com & Pure Ice's Free Spirit can be purchased at Walmart.

Both Free Spirit & Leah have 2 coats applied to nail.

They both had similar consistency. Leah was a little thicker so had to make sure I didn't over work it in order to apply without streaks.

Happy Shopping! Thanks for stopping by.

These are based on my opinion. The prices are based on what is on webpage or posted on shelf at store. I paid for these products with my own $$$!

Brighten My Day Mani

I haven't been feeling well lately so I had to find some nail polish to brighten my day & maybe it would make me feel better. I recently received Kleancolor Holo. You can wear it by itself but it's pretty sheer so I used OPI Planks A lot from the Pirates of the Carribean collection as a base color. I then painted two coats of Kleancolor Holo. It very pretty & should be a color in everybodys collection.

My Very First Swap Ever!

I did my first swap ever from an awesome friend & blogger, Suiling. She was nice enough to swap with me. I have always wanted to try Island Girl nail polish. About 6 years ago my boyfriend took me to Las Vegas, since he is from Hawaii, we always go to the ABC store there. It's the only place besides going to Hawaii to buy cuttlefish & Hawaiian seeds. While we were shopping there I saw this awesome nail polish called Island Girl. I got sidetracked & never did buy any. We went back to Vegas a few more times after that & I always forgot to get some. So Suiling was willing to send me some Island Girl nail polish that I have been wanting for over 6yrs so I was so excited & grateful. The colors are awesome. Thanks Suiling. You are my Angel. So this is what it looked like when it arrived.

I don't know how she did it but she got tons of polish stuffed in this box!

These were all the goodies I got! I was SO pumped as I unwrapped each one! I Love Love the colors & the names rock!

The Jasmine Cuticle Oil is SO awesome & smells SO good I almost wanted to wear it as perfume! Yummy! The only thing better than this box of goodie is if I was actually in Hawaii as an Aloha Girl feeling the Diamond Head Breeze, the Tropical Breeze & the Aloha Heat & watching the Hawaiian Surf. As my Mood was Changing I was having an Aloha Dream or a Waikiki Dream as I'm laying in the sun & getting a little Waikiki Color.
(The bottom Pink one I accidentally named it Tropical Breeze but it is actually Aloha Dream)

Thanks Suiling for making my first swap such an awesome experience!
Please go check out Suiling's blog http://hihigurly.blogspot.com/ you will not be disappointed.

Easy Abstract Nail Design

Since I fell in love with the color of Julep's Taylor, I wanted to find some other colors to compliment it to do a nail design. So I just grabbed a few colors & started painting & I thought it turned out kinda cool. So wanted to share it with you. Below are pictures from beginning to end of the design in case you would like to recreate it with your favorite colors. If you do please say you were inspired by my design. Thx

Urban Decay's Woodstock for the pink stripe.

Julep's Leah for the green stripes.

Island Girl's Aloha Girl for teal stripes.

Silver Striper for thin vertical swipes & pinwheel on thumb.

What do you think? Please comment. Thx.

January Julep Maven Boxes

I received my Julep Maven boxes for January. I am an "It Girl" & a "Classic with a Twist" This is my 3rd & 4th box that I have received. The 1st one was in November & I tried the polish immediately when receiving that box. I was a little disappointed by the quality of the polish but shook it off thinking maybe it was just a bad bottle of polish. Next box received the topcoat & I am in love with it but didn't try the polish. This time I received 2 boxes & I tried 2 different colors 1 out of each box. I love the colors but still not to fond of the quality especially for the price. It's not the worst polish ever but certainly not the best!

If you receive 3 bottles of polish in your Maven box you are essentially paying $6.66 for a 1/2 a bottle of polish. That's right 1/2 a bottle. Normally a bottle of nail polish is .5 fl oz. A Julep bottle of polish is .27fl oz. It just a nail over a 1/2 of a bottle of most polishes. It is only .1fl oz over the Essie Mini. If you are not in the Maven Club you would pay $28.00 of Julep nail polish in order to get the amount of nail polish from almost any other brand. ($22.40 if you are a Maven). I think most of us won't notice this because of the shape of the bottles. The packaging is genius for Julep's bottom line. If the quality was there, if the polish went on smoothly & had unique colors that you couldn't get any where else, some might pay that amount but that is not the case.

I didn't receive my January upgrade of my extra bottle of polish in my "It Girl" box

Hayden-love this nice bright color.

For the month of January they had a complimentary upgrade to receive another bottle of polish. I chose a deep red color called Gayle but they were out of stock so they sent me a bottle of Nail therapy instead w/a coupon for a free bottle of nail color of my choice. Which was very nice.

Taylor- I Love this color! Looks like just a regular blue in picture but in person it's kind of a blueish/periwinkle purple color. Very cool.

So I think after I order my free polish I will discontinue my subscription of the Julep Maven program. It kinda bums me out cuz who doesn't love nail mail.

**This is my opinion & based on my own research. Please feel free to purchase from Julep to create your own opinion & come to your own conclusion.**
